Hello,
I have owned a go5100 for a long time.
I added a microsd card to have the possibility to update it quietly.
I have only 94MB in the device. The card is 16GB.
I try to install the last update of 6 Giga but it does not work!
Thanks in advance for the help.

Hi
After inserting your SD in your GPS did you get the proposal to format the SD with the GPS?0 -
I get no response from the device when I insert the SD1
-
the memory card is formatted for the TomTom file system and is ready for use

The USB cable is connected to the GPS socket, not to the mount.
Try with another cable.
Can you try formatting the SD with a computer and then inserting the SD back into the GPS to format it again.0 -
I use the original cable to connect the TomTom to the computer
My drive is running ok i can
The TomTom tells me that I am well connected!
I will follow your advice and formating the SD.
Many Thanks.0 -
I have formated the SD on my computer then formated agin in the GPS. I did the process again for the same result and the same annonce than in the screencapture....

Good morning,
following the advice of tomtom support I did a reset from the screen. I lost all my preferences but I still can't update!

I have found @Wimkozijn with the same problem:
"I can not update my europe map on the Tomtom go 5000."0 -
Hi
Remove the SD card then try to install another map from another country once installed insert the selected SD card again the Europe map has been installed on the SD0 -
Hi @eyetalks
As you only have about 90mb of space try and load a Venezuela or Iraq map as they are very small. Then you should be able to delete the Europe map and see if you can download any other maps to the internal memory. If you can then I would suspect the SD card which should be a Micro SD class 10 card and I would recommend a Samsung, Sandisk or similar well known make from a reliable source as there have been instances of problems with lesser known makes and fakes.

@DougLap, @Willy875
I removed the European map and chose the new map without the buldings (lighter).
I did not need to use the SD card.
The TomTom seems to be updated.
I will check using it.
I have lost two years of preferences, places, routes.
There were definitively some confusions between the GPS and MyDrive.
This experience make me think that before doing an update better to think it could take on day!
Thanks a lot for your advices and your assistance.
Have a nice day.0 -
Hi @eyetalks
If you log into your My Drive account on your GO5100 then it should sync back your My Places and My Routes. The only Routes that will not sync back to the unit are those that were created and saved to My Routes on the unit itself. You can insert a small Micro SD Class 10 card that you do not format for maps and use that to export the On Unit Created Routes to the card and then your PC or indeed another TT device.
