Trucker 5000 map keeps restarting during navigation

Apologies if I posted this in the wrong place...
My Trucker 5000 has developed an annoying habit of randomly reloading the map while navigating a route. First, the screen momentarily goes black, then the world map splash screen displays, before the route map reloads and the route is then recalculated.
The issue can happen several times whilst navigating a route and I'm sometimes forced to pull over and wait for the map to reload before I can continue. A friend has suggested that the problem may lie with me having such a large number of locations saved in My Places but I require them all (and I am constantly adding new ones) for my job.

Since turning off syncing and have not experienced the problem again.
