Smart Connect SD Card Not Recognised (looks blank) after updating map

I recently purchased an upgrade for my maps (Smart Car using Smart Connect) and during the update, the Smart Connect is saying I don't have a device installed (SD Card). Looking at the card itself, it looks blank. I have tried contacting TomTom but keep getting looped back to here. Has anyone else had this issue?
