Update doesn't work and maps are gone...

First I wanted to update my TomTom Go Basic 5" via wifi (with good connection). Everytime it said: "Oops, something went wrong, please try again." The update didn't work. When I now start my TomTom, it immediately says "Add a map". When I click on that, I have to buy maps. All maps have apparently been removed, while I have lifetime maps. It doesn't do anything, I cannot update anymore. I've had the device for almost 2 years but I always have trouble updating.
The customer service says that I have to change my password for my TomTom account in an easy password, but that has nothing to do with it!?!
Could anyone help me please?

Thank you Willy875 for your answer.
I already tried to install MyDrive Connect on my Windows computer (version 4.2.12.4208), but there appears a weird screen with green moving stripes (see the attachment). I cannot see anything. Maybe @VikramK can help me tomorrow?

Willy875, I already checked. But step 2 says "Select a map from the list", but there is no list (see attachment in my previous post).0

Go via 1500 had trouble...corupted map. tried all website MIS-information.
Now won't turn on at all, can get device info by holding down start button....
NO SUPPORT AT ALL FROM tomtom.
PITIFUL !

I just reconnected my GO500, and it shows me "no map available". This device has been inactive for 8 months.
I wouldn't want to buy a new card.
