My Tom Tom 520 has not got Worldwide maps

I have tried updating, rebooting, bought a memory card, formatted the memory card, rebooted again. I can't find the USA map on either the TomTom or on the MyDrive. Looks like I now need to buy the USA map for my TomTom, depsite the fact that the product says clearly on the bpx that it comes with Lifetime World Maps built in. I go on holiday tomorrow, and I've been trying to get this to work for 5 days now. Can anyone help, or am I destined to pay for US maps and then spent the next 6 months trying to get my money back.
