Updating & adding new map

Haven't used my GO5000 for ages but going to USA (I live UK) and need it. Trying to update it and add relevant map, but going round in circles. Device constantly says its updating, even when theres a message on my computer screen telling me it isn't responding. So disconnect, reconnect and then try again to add the map. Can anyone help please. I have a Mac.

yes. It also asks me which map I want to download, allows me to put it into the box, tells me that my device is ready, then it says its updating I have a wheel on my device - all this time, but then suddenly my computer says that it has disconnected and tells me to reconnect. According to my device, despite trying numerous times, I have no maps available and I should reinstall one - which is what I have been trying to do!0

I should add I have reset the device several times too.0

In the settings of Mydrive connect > download tick so that the map is downloaded first on the computer.

Are your USB ports set for power saving "USB Selective Suspend"

Click on link and scroll down to "Turn Off USB Selective Suspend"
Also turn off any Screen savers any other Power savers or USB port monitoring software installed

Random Disconnects on Surface Pro 3 & 4
Do you have or have access to a 'Surface Dock', if so plug your device into a USB port on that. Others have found that to work
On the Win10 tablets, Microsoft has hidden the "USB Selective Suspend" menu
You will need to edit the Registry for the USB Selective Suspend menu to show
