Does the Go Supreme 6 in car navigation device function without being connected to power supply?

Hi,

I have a Go Supreme 6 (GO 620 Wifi enabled) in car navigation device.

I have noticed that the device switches on only when it is connected to a power supply (drum roll followed by the screen display). When it is not connected to a power supply, the device keeps flashing the Tom Tom logo but fails to switch on.

Is this normal?

    Hi

One GB consumes a lot of electrical energy. It is recommended to always connect the Go to a car charger.

    Hi @chinmayk383

Sounds as though the battery is very flat or failing.

It is essential that you use the supplied charger when using and not for example connecting the cable to a USB socket in the car. A USB socket does not supply enough power to run and keep the unit charged

If you have an Apple or similar phone mains charger plug that will take the USB cable the use that to charge the unit for at least 2hours and then see if it will start normally when not on a power supply. Whatever you do don’t allow the battery to drain significantly as that is not good for it.
