How to solve message 'System does not react' ?

After connecting my <Tomtom Start25> to the computer <MyDrive Connect> says that the system is connected but when I try to install te updates I get the message: 'System does not react'. How can I solve this problem?

    Disconnect and reconnect the USB socket of your computer several times.

    Thanks for your answer Willy875, but I am not sure how to (dis)connect the USB socket as it is integrated in the casing of my laptop.
    Or should it be done by software?

    The USB plug of my TomTom I have stuck in and pulled out of the three different USB laptopsockets many, many times now without any success.

    Try to connect your laptop directly by cable to your internet box.

    I have now replaced the WiFi connection of my computer by an ethernet cable to the modem/router, but unfortunately I keep on getting the message: Your system does not react.

    Have you tried another GPS cable?
