Blank screen

My TomTom Go 6100 worked fine when I left home yesterday. After about 3 miles the screen suddenly developed a log of lines. Within one minute the screen went black. The sound was working fine just picture.

    Press the on / off button until you hear the sound of the tamtam and the device restarts.

    Thanks Willy. Unfortunately this does not work. When I restart as you suggest the screen flashes a couple of times and stays blank.
