Suspect a weak USB cable connection

With my TomTom GO - I get the red box indicating the progress of how much it has charged up or not - what can I do ? This is upon plugging in the USB cable or pressing the power button wirelessly (not) plugged in. Consequently, I *cannot* use this device at all. Please help.
