So many weight limit errors

What is happening to your product, you are randomly introducing weight limit errors on the 6250 and the Go Expert.

I have submitted map reports, but major roads like the A40, A338 and the A272, you now have put weight limits on.

The problems seem to be from adjoining roads, that do have weight limits, but the ends of the weight limits on these roads, overlap onto the main road, thus causing the satnavs to get it wrong.

This is just 3 examples, but this is getting so annoying.

@CobaltSteer. I couldn't agree more on this one. Just by the very nature of this it sends u on a longer or worse route. Its taking a while for this to be addressed far to long.

    This really needs sorting.
I can see people getting into some difficult problems because of this.

Definitely. Another day another error they need a dedicated team on this once and for all. Any other company would have sorted this.

Just another example, another road that now has a random weight limit put on it, for no reason at all.

A46 Southbound from the M4 leading onto the A4

The product is becoming un useable, and dare I use the common phrase, 'not fit for the purpose '

I have submitted so many map edits to help fix these problems, but although they have all been accepted, the changes never seem to be uploaded, so we can all benefit from the fixes.

Loyal customer for many many years, being pushed to looking for an alternative product.

I do not believe individual MapShare reporting of the issue is the best way forward………..

For example, my Go Camper routes me on crazy, circular or illogical routes which “partially” seems to be linked to the weight/width/height restrictions of adjoining roads on a route. On the map when zoomed right in you can see the ends of the limits on these adjoining roads, “overlap” onto the main road, thus often causing the device to avoid the main road and consequently send me round in circles!!!

But my Vehicle Settings may not discover “restrictions” that other users will see as this will be totally dependent on their Vehicle Settings.

As far as I am aware there is no way for a PND user to see on a map “all restrictions”, be they linked to weight/width/height?

Based on this; the restriction issue should be tackled, by a dedicated TomTom team who ought to be able to see all restrictions on a map and effect a rapid cure, as left to individual users to report them as discovered, via Mapshare I can envisage the restriction issue running for several years……….. :s

@VikramK If you agree, can you please raise an internal ticket on behalf of the many users (Camper and Trucker devices) who have reported similar issues with the appropriate team for resolution.

This product is totally un-useable now.

It seems any different road that I might have to use, this being major roads, has weight limit errors. Come on TomTom, acknowledge you have dropped the ball and you are working on a fix.

In the last 4 years using the 6250 I submitted no MapShare fixes, because it was that good. Since October 2021, I have submitted '20' for so many stupid errors. Basically if you do not know the roads, you cannot use the product.

In order to plot a route, I now have to add so many way points forcing the unit to take me on the correct route. This sort of defeats the whole object.

Another screenshot below, in one section on the A37, just south of Bristol, 3 weight limit roads over lap onto the A37, forcing the Go Expert to plot the most stupid route of a major road onto residential streets for a 44 Ton HGV !!!!! Absolute Class

I think you might want to re evaluate your work team, on who on earth Beta tests these maps.

P.S. Fix the STUPID broadcast storm on these message boards, asking to rate your Support !!!

Sadly the current “specialised Camper and Trucker” Tomtom devices have so many faults that I agree they are almost unusable and not fit for purpose…………..

I have brought this to the attention of the Tomtom moderators of the forum to raise an internal ticket on behalf of the many users (Camper and Trucker devices) who have reported similar issues with the appropriate team for resolution, as I do not believe individual MapShare reporting of the issue is the best way forward………..

    @Vikramk @lampard

However I think this may again fall on “Tomtom Deaf Ears” as although their Business model allows them to develop a “specialised product” to be sold for a higher price…………, the limited numbers of both Truck and Camper devices compared to Cars means that if a fault in the mapping or otherwise occurs the numbers of affected drivers will be that much smaller and “easier to ignore”…………. :/

If a car driver gets diverted incorrectly by his Tomtom, the consequences are a minor irritation for the driver, but a 44T Truck is a vital cog in the Supply chain of keeping essential goods moving around the UK. HGV drivers already have a myriad of complicated working conditions and rules imposed on them and a Tomtom should be an “aid to the working day instead of inflicting daily mayhem and carnage”.

If you are a member of the RHA, perhaps the solution is to get that and other relevant organisations to lobby the Roads Minister Baroness Vere / Dept of Transport / Boris Johnson to require Tomtom to fix these faults urgently.

Looking at the A37 route and your unnecessary diversion; you may wish “as a possible short-term workaround” altering your Vehicle Dimensions for the ‘width’ of your Truck to be 1.75 metres. Maggs Lane ( the first restriction on the A37 ) has a 1.8 metre width restriction which is "overlapping" on the Go Expert mapping onto the A37…………….. :'(

If this helps then you will hopefully just have to manually avoid “narrow” roads yourself, as the weight and height dimensions remaining in the Vehicle Dimensions settings should still operate correctly……………… ? ;)

This and other experimental setting changes may improve your routing until such time as Tomtom deign it appropriate to fix the underlying mapping and software issues on our Truck and Camper devices!

However given that last night there was a major vehicle accident on the M25 which resulted in the M25 being closed from junction 27 to 25 in excess of 12 hours, Tomtom this morning although recognising there was a closure of some 8 ½ miles still directed me towards the Closed Motorway…………. :s

Accordingly, my faith in TomTom’s abilities; to get even the most basic of navigation aids working correctly, has sunken to a low ebb.

Happy New Year TomTom !!!! B)
