Maps won't load after update. TOMTOM XL

in Devices using TomTom HOME
Hi, I updated my TomTom XL today and now my UK and USA maps won't load. It says maps cannot load using this device. They loaded fine prior to me updating the device. I spoke to customer support who told me to buy a new device. This surely can't be right, it was perfect before I updated it.

    I have reactivated the map on your TomTom account, but I doubt that they are still available on our servers.

    Could you connect the device to TomTom HOME and check for updates?

    Hi have tried to update and install the maps but i keep getting error messages "item was not valid after installation"
