Go Premium X screen flashing on removal of power

I have a Go Premium X and when I switch off the car engine it no longer goes into sleep mode but jut flashes the TomTom screen until the battery is drained.
I've tried resetting it, (drum roll). There is over 5G of free space available.
What else can I do and how on earth do you contact customer support, ie. a real person??? The unit is only just over 2 years old and I would expect it to last longer than it has.
