regularly coming across diversion signs when I have a route in my tomtom rider. Is there a way that I can quickly get the satnav to avoid the diversion and re-route?

The Rider 4x0/5x0 has two modes to ride a route.
- The ITN Route -> Send Stops in MyDrive or .ITN file on device
- A Track -> Sync this Route as track in MyDrive or .GPX file on device
When Riding a (ITN) route you only use the Stops in order. The route between the stops is free. Selecting fastest route will avoid traffic jams and known closed roads.
When Riding a track the Rider follows the original path as close as possible even when there is a closed road. When leaving the track it will recalculate and send you back to your track.
In this case zoom out and find a way around the closed road. (in many cases just follow the diversion sign)
It can help to reload your Track and do not hit Drive to stop the recalculation (use the arrow above zoom to adjust the screen)
With "GPX track 2 OV2" or "Load Track" you can display the original Track point as POI on your Rider. This way you only have to zoom to find the best alternative route.1
