Notifications on CarPlay

in TomTom GO Navigation app for iPhone
Hi all,
while I am on CarPlay and I have opened any app I do not see the notifications of Tom Tom go navigation as it happens with other navigators. To be updated on the road or speed cameras, I have to switch to the app every time. Is this normal? I remember they used to work.

    Thanks for the details! Can you please confirm if you've 'Run in background' under settings enabled on the app?
