Am I correct in thinking that my Tomtom Go620 does not recognise road closures?

Just got stuck in the middle of Bath and had to ditch the Sat Nav in favour of a phone as kept telling me to do a U-Turn!!

    Welcome to the community! The device should be able to detect road closures and offer suggestions.
    Was the device still connected to TomTom Traffic?

    What is TomTom traffic?

    Sorry, new to all this, just assumed it was in built!

    TomTom Traffic is a part of TomTom Services available on the GO 620 to provide over the air real time traffic updates.
    The GO 620 connects to TomTom Traffic when it's pairing with a smartphone using MyDrive app.

    Thank you. As I can’t pair my device with my phone (my contract does not permit tethering, it’s an old contract), I guess I will not get the benefit of live traffic updates.

    Oh well.
