Battery empty Go 5100.

I have a TomTom Go 5100.

Recently the unit will only turn on for 20-60 seconds before it powers off, with the error message "battery empty".

This happens whilst the unit is plugged in to power.

I have tried charging the battery overnight, to no avail.

Any ideas why the battery won't charge and also why the unit won't run on cable power at all?
I tried replacing the cable, using a different mount, charging the battery - but always get the same message and the unit then powers off.

    Hi
    @cptjay
    Have you tried a Soft/Drum roll restart on the device ??? This restarts the devices Operating System afresh

    RESETTING YOUR NAVIGATION DEVICE
    https://help.tomtom.com/hc/en-gb/articles/360013957499-Resetting-your-navigation-device
    Charge the device for at least 3Hrs….
    (Preferably using something like a Smartphone Charger using the Tomtom USB lead) a PC USB port only outputs 0.5 Apps

    OR have the device plugged into a suitable power supply while the device is restarting
    Press and hold the on/off button until you hear a drum-roll sound, then release the on/off button.
    You won’t lose anything; it’s just like rebooting your PC
    I use a Soft/drum-roll start after any upgrade large or small.
    It’s also useful to keep in mind for sorting out most minor niggles....

    Hi
    @cptjay
    Does the problem happen when using the Mount or the USB Port or when you are using either charging methods....

    Happens on two different mounts, powered or unpowered.

    Also happens post being charged fully by USB.

    Happens after all resets.

    Runs for 20-60 seconds, followed by "battery empty, going to sleep", and powers off.
