Charging the TomTom go camper at home: do I always need the holder from the car? Or can I connect a USB cable directly?

Hi @JandubbelJan
You do not have to use the Holder. Be aware that continually inserting /removing cable in USB socket could eventually be an issue however you can still Update the device if that socket fails as the GO Camper uses Wifi unlike earlier models.
