Renault Carminat Remote issues - replacement?

Hi, after changing my batteries, the remote is now not working (no lights and not being recognised). I have used a few different sets of batteries to test and no luck.

Any idea how to check if the remote is dead?

If it is dead, are there any other options for purchasing a new one? eg. does the remote from the tomtom go work on the device or do I have to spend £77 at renault?

    Hi @Davidkenn17
Welcome to the community! At TomTom we support questions about software, navigation and maps.
Questons about the hardware including the remote would be better handled by car dealer.

    Thanks, Vikram

Carminat remote is Bluetooth and compatible (although not 100%) with the bluetooth remote from X20, X30, X40 and X50 TomTom range.

You used to be able to buy them from TomTom, but they no longer have them.

BEWARE of Ebay suppliers. They are very similar to the wireless (not bluetooth) remote for GO700 and GO910 which will not work with Carminat.

Thanks for this, luckily I managed to take mine apart and there was some corrosion on the connections so I just rubbed with a bit of vinegar to clean it off and now it works a treat!

Hello there! I'm looking for options for replacing a bluetooth remote control for Tomtom Carminat installed on Renault Megane 3 2012 (model is 9UMG.002.00 or 253B09995R for Renault). I tried looking old threads into the forum, none of their links are online, except the one where it says that 4D00.701 it's not an option and 4M02.000 will works fine.
Since those threads are old and inaccesible in most of the cases (perhaps the links are old and they move them to another server), and couldn't find an email support from Tomtom, I'll thanks some answer with differents alternatives.
Sorry for asking this question when forum has already answered it. Perhaps Tomtom or some nice user inside this forum could list the options today in 2021.
Thanks in advance for the kind attention.
    Regards,
    Em

    @Davidkenn17 @Frustratedofbristol @VikramK @Carminat Hello there!

Well, I can now update to 2021 my very question, and some issues related with this subject. I'll try to condensate all the info that I have today:

    - Remote control 9UMG.002.00 or 253B09995R can be replaced WITHOUT loosing original functions of Carminat, if you use remote control 4M02.000 or 9M00.081 or DQ758012400 (same control with different codes, always bluetooth transmission, of course)
    - Compatibility, if you use this codes for replacement, is 100% assured.
    - There's only one difference between the original remote control (in my case, installed on Renault Megane 3 year 2012), and this is the label for the lower two buttons. On the original remote control: "map 2d/3d" and "menu". On the replacement: Those two button are labeled as volumen control, one is used for increasing volume and the other is used for lowering volume. But, when you use the replacement on Carminat, if you press both buttons, you keep the original function for both of them. Those buttons CAN'T access to volume on Carminat. Anyway, volume control was not available on the original remote control.

The important part: Replacement needs to be paired with Carminat on the car. How can you do this?:

1- If radio and/or car is on, turn off the radio and turn off the car.
2- Turn on the car, then turn on the radio. Welcome menu it will show on the Carminat screen.
3- At the same time, click and mantain pressing the button showed with a symbol " _I ", the button is in the remote control at the right if you are looking it from the front. The blue light on the remote control will flash, with a blinking movement.
4- Keep the button pressed until the blue light on the remote control stop blinking and stays on all the time. It could take seconds, less than a minute, don't despair!

Voila! Your remote control will be paired with Carminat.

Unfortunately, this tip is not described by neither tomtom support or car dealer, and you can think that further assistance is needed on car dealer, or some program/interfase calibration on Carminat, but is not.

Personally, I'm very dissapointed with Tomtom support, and, needless to say, very angry with my car dealer who gives me nothing, not the original remote control nor options, by saying that the equipment "was to old".

Another not easy (as Tomtom says) issue is updating maps on this equipment....solved, but I'll let this subject for another time....

Hope somebody outside there, with (not so) old cars & Carminat Built-In Navigator, could find helpful this post.

    Best regards to all.
