Original Persistant Speed Camera database has been deleted and replaced with one that requires a sub

I have finally arranged to update my TomTom (A via 135), it came with Free Lifetime Maps and I thought speed cameras as well, I had to have its lifetime maps reinstated as it had been removed by TomTom and replaced with an advert to buy a new device ? I have now been told that I had lifetime map udates but not speedcameras ?

The map udate issue has been resolved, but I still have an issue with the speed cameras

The device has had a database of speedcamers on it that was supplied with the device and that I have been happy with. I was presented with an offer to update this a a very cheap price and it updated. I know understand that this update was actually a suscription, which is not somthing I want. I have stopped the subscription but my original database of cameras has been removed from my MyDriveConnect .

How do I reinstate the original database of cameras, as I have been told the new ones will stop working after a month ? I never asked for this database to be deleted and has worked perfectly well since i had the device.

Or will the new database be persistant like the old one and I dont have to worry ?

Thanks

    Hi
    @Su_Bear
    Welcome to the site...
    There has been a change in the Speed cam subscriptions... The Tomtom subscriptions now 'Auto Renew' by default....

    Note... If your subscription has expired you will NOT get any Speed cam warning on the device, even the old database is still installed on the device....

    Thanks, but that still does not answer my question, I never had a subscription, my device was supplied with a database that was deleted and I would like it back, not to be charged a subscription !

    Yes I think it is not morally right or is just downright illegal to remove the data you already have INITIALLY or purchased through a subscription. It is like a newspaper subscription or a digital subscription for that matter. It is like once you stop subscribing you will have to return the old newspaper to them. Or you purchased a book and it belongs to you. If the book is revised or updated the publisher will not send you a new book but you still have the old book. Your responsibility is to use the data for your own personal use and not to infringe on the publishers copyright. And if you contributed data (user data input) to the speed/red light camera database, you have the right to retain or retrieve that info from them. Come on tomtom stop being greedy. Most of the info you got came from user input for free and then you sell the compilation to them. if that is not greedy what is it?

    I'm with you. Tomtom have initially sold you a service and then taken it away with some sneaky trial and included some t&c's which removes the speed cameras. Just to increase their subscription. Highly immoral and probably illegal.

    However under the terms and conditions:- If you decide to terminate a Paid App Subscription (premium) and the App offers a “free version” model, you will still have access to such free version, unless you uninstall the App from your device.

    "you will still have access to such free version"

    Well that's not true...
