Connecting TomTom XL to laptop

Good day, this might be a very odd question but I have an old Tomtom XL 4ET03 that I need to update, however it wont connect to my laptop (Windows, Thinkpad) . It seems as if my laptop doesn't see it.

Could someone please assist with this.

do you have tomtom home installed + is the cable original
