Update my UConnect 5"

Does downloading newly purchased maps onto a usb and then uploading onto a radionav actually work?I can't get anything to happen, or find any information to help. That's a waste of money if I can't actually update my maps. UConnect 5"

    It's a UConnect 5" radio nav. So, built in to vehicle.

    Okay, I have an 8GB flash-drive, which I have prepared, as explained in the Help Guide, by plugging into the car. It says it has successfully prepared. So I purchased the Europe map and have tried to import that. But .. Oh, I think I have bought a map incompatible with my machine. (The first two letters of the serial are TP...) How is that possible? Is that possible?
