Start 60 connection problem

My Start60 is recognised by Mydrive, it knows the updates required, and the amount of free space, but says the device isn't connected. I've looked at and gone through the procedures on my mac as suggested, but when I click on "renew dhcp license: nothing happens, and it shows as inactive in system preferences. I can't update any of my data. I have done a clean install of my drive, with no effect. How can this be remedied?
