Map update TomTom GO mobile app - meaning of icons

I am installing/updating a lot of maps and wnder what the icons mean:
Pulsing solid - Updating...
Lined circle showing file size - Updating...
Lined circle around white sqare showing a file ize - Updating...
Green solid with a check mark - Waiting for update
At which state is the process at each of the symbols?
Filed on server / Downloading / Filed on smartphone / Installing?

There is 4 stages for me.
1. Updates available
2. Download in progress: (The blue ring around rectangle more or less indicating the percentage of progress, by slowly "increasing" to clockwise)
3. I have no idea what it does, but the blue circle is pulsating ( sometimes for very very long time)
4. Applying changes (Unnecessary and just time consuming Animated pencil). Again no idea what happening here, and why it should be broken down into so many processes?

The download and applying process take much more time in 2.xx version than before (in the 1.8x versions.) I hope that will improve.5

When download completes
Once the download is complete
It would be nice if we can get pictures from you to see what exactly shown on your phone.
