Trying to update my Tom Tom as it's been messing up my journeys lately but when it's plugged into the computer it keeps restarting itself so it won't hold a connection long enough to connect to MyDrive. I have charged it up to a full battery before connecting to the computer and yet it still won't let me connect to MyDrive.

Hi
@Hoppy9745
Welcome to the site....
Re "Download/Installation interrupted".....
Are your USB ports set for power saving "USB Selective Suspend"
Win7 See... http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/147369-usb-selective-suspend-turn-off.html
Win10 See… https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/73187-turn-off-usb-selective-suspend-windows-10-a.html
Click on link and scroll down to "Turn Off USB Selective Suspend"
Also turn off any Screen savers any other Power savers or USB port monitoring software installed

Random Disconnects on Surface Pro 3 & 4
Do you have or have access to a 'Surface Dock', if so plug your device into a USB port on that. Others have found that to work
On the Win10 tablets, Microsoft has hidden the "USB Selective Suspend" menu
You will need to edit the Registry for the USB Selective Suspend menu to show
Laptop users also see Note (1) & (2)
Note... (1) My Linx 10/10 Win10 Tablet is exactly the same... I had to edit the Registry to activate the advanced setting in the Power Menu
Note...(2) Recently a User with a Dell XPS 9360 Laptop also exactly the same problem ... he also had to edit the Registry to activate the advanced setting in the Power Menu

Hi, Thanks I have disabled the USB selective suspend but the device still keeps restarting when it's plugged in. Now it doesn't even get past the start up screen before it shuts down again.
So upon start up I get the tomtom logo with a map behind and a white bar across the bottom which gets to about a quarter way through then it restarts. And it's this over and over again.0 -
Hi
@Hoppy9745
Have you tried a Soft/Drum roll restart on the device ??? This restarts the device's Operating System afresh
RESETTING YOUR NAVIGATION DEVICE
https://help.tomtom.com/hc/en-gb/articles/360013957499-Resetting-your-navigation-device
Charge the device for at least 2Hrs….
(Preferably using something like a Smartphone Charger using the Tomtom USB lead)
OR have the device plugged into a power supply while the device is restarting
Press and hold the on/off button until you hear a drum-roll sound then release the on/off button.
You won’t lose anything; it’s just like rebooting your PC
I use a Soft/drum-roll start after any upgrade large or small.
It’s also useful to keep in mind for sorting out most minor niggles....
