    Update. - Fully charging made no difference so let the battery go completely flat and left it overnight then fully charged it and then reset. Wonder of wonders, it is now working. Don't know what the problem was or what actually cured it but thanks again for your assistance YamFazMan.

    Hi
    @Martindp2
    Also Check... Tap 4Dot (.... Menu)
    Are any 'Sound Icons' slashed through ??? it’s really easy to turn off a Sound Icon when swiping through the Menus

    Hi
    @Martindp2
    Have you tried a Soft/Drum roll restart on the device ??? This restarts the device's Operating System afresh

    Charge the device for at least 2Hrs….
    (Preferably using something like a Smartphone Charger using the Tomtom USB lead)
    OR have the device plugged into a power supply while the device is restarting
    Press and hold the on/off button until you hear a drum-roll sound then release the on/off button.
    You won’t lose anything; it’s just like rebooting your PC
    I use a Soft/drum-roll start after any upgrade large or small.
    It’s also useful to keep in mind for sorting out most minor niggles....

    Yes, I've done that twice so far (the drum roll restart) but to no effect, However, I'll now try your other suggestion and fully charge it before repeating the restart. Thanks for your help.
