TomTom Go 5200 problems with SIM card and GPRS-status

LaurenssLaurenss Posts: 4 [Apprentice Seeker]
Sincs the latest update my Traffic Info and Speed warnings have a "x" and my GPRS-status says "No connection". It seems that there are a lot of other users facing this problem recently. What has happened at TomTom? With Wifi or Bluetooth connected to my mobile phone the Information is allright and activated. The helpdesk says that I need to let my SIM repair, at a cost of roughly €100, for my 3-year-ols device.
Is there a general problem in the software for the Go 5200? Will this be fixed shortly? Or is it just an attempt to let me buy a new device?
Does anyone know?

    Hi
    @Laurenss
    Welcome to the site....
    There's an unresolved problem with the Apple iPhone iOS 13 & 14 and the and the MyDrive App's advanced Smartphone features... The problem is under investigation by Tomtom....
    If you can live without the bells & whistles of the MyDrive App...
    Just use a straight simple Bluetooth Connection....

    @YamFazMan Thanks Yes I'm using IPhone ios 14.2. I'll wait and see; better than paying €100 to solve this problem.

    Hi @Laurenss

    Have you tried a Soft Reset

    https://discussions.tomtom.com/en/discussion/1034215/how-to-reset-your-navigation-device/p1?new=1

    If that does not do it then a Factory Reset. A chore but worth a try however log into your account on the My Drive Website to make sure your My Places etc are saved there and so will be restored to the unit after the Reset.

    Tap Menu
    Tap Settings
    Tap System
    Tap Reset Device.
    You will have to set the unit up again as you did out of the box.

    My Tom Tom 5200 was working perfectly but now signals it should be connected to the computer. It will not reset, and does not respond to being recharged or being connected to my laptop, despite the computer saying it is being restored. Holding down the on/off button until white print shows and pressing the button three times does nothing. There is no apparent way to manually reset with a paper clip or similar. Only three years old. Any ideas.?

    Hi
    @Andrew39_90
    Welcome to the site.....
    It sounds like Recovery Mode has Automatically Started on your device
    MyDrive Connect >> MUST << be running on your PC, and be capable of displaying as >> CONNECTED << on MyDrive Connect...
    The device MUST be connected to your PC using the supplied USB Cable with MyDrive Connect running in the background for the Recovery process to complete....

    Installing MyDrive Connect....

    See... https://help.tomtom.com/hc/en-gb/articles/360013959579-Navigation-device-not-starting-or-displaying-a-cross
    If Recovery mode has Auto Started it will bypass the Text screen and the 3 presses of the power button... And will already be at a stage of Recovery somewhere between the 'Spinning-disk' image shown in bullet point (5) and the bullet point (7) image showing the recovery progress count up to 100%

    Once Recovery Mode is initiated, and if a connection to MyDrive Connect has NOT established... Recovery Mode will continue to attempt to connect to MDC until the Server eventually times-out....
    Any attempts at a Restart the device... Recovery Mode will continue to attempt to connect to MDC until the Server eventually times-out

    Superuser YamFazMan told me: "There's an unresolved problem with the Apple iPhone iOS 13 & 14 and the and the MyDrive App's advanced Smartphone features... The problem is under investigation by Tomtom...."
    Never heard again of a solution for the problem.
    My problem stil exists: no connection via $G/5G is possible in my car since the last update of the device.
    I use the hotspot of my mobilephone to connect the TomTom-device to internet, and that works, although you have to let the devicereconnect again after some time . . . . . better than to pay €100 for an uncertain repair.
