So disappointing, over a year for that!

is it possible to have news about the resolution of the connectivity problem with ios 13 and ios 14?

All this is scandalous, and Rider 550 continues to be advertised as compatible with ios

Does this fix the incorrect calculation of the ETA in the Netherlands in the daytime?
Since there is a blanket speed limit of 100 km/h between 07.00 and 19.00hrs ETA's are off on our TomTom Go 5100.

Seriously, is there no software development going on at all? There are so many things that need improvement with my Rider 550's software. The ability to upload planned routes via WiFi is an obvious one. And why does it appear to accumulate duplicate routes?

    Hi

    Maybe Useful....
If you watch the official Tomtom Video... After various tips... 2 minutes 40 seconds into the video... Tomtom recommends a Factory reset....

The GO 5100 is a NAV4 device, there is no need to disassemble the device....
If you hold your GO 5100 Upside-down i.e.... the connections at the top and with the screen facing away from you, the SIM is under the CE sticker to the left of the Micro USB port....

    7noudtt1912s.jpg
    With the device turned OFF...
Carefully remove the sticker... Its advisable to use Antistatic precautions when handling the SIM... You will need a pair of fine pointed tweezers to remove the SIM
If you pull-out the SIM a little way, and reinsert it, repeat this a few times, it should now remake a good connection
Note: On the GO 5100 when reinserting the SIM have the contacts facing away from the screen (Note... This may differ on other models)
I used double-sided sticky tape to replace the CE sticker

Note... The above will void your Tomtom guarantee....
All the usual disclaimers apply, all the above is at your own discretion

    Hi Lampard,
This update has left a white band of thin stripes at the top of the screen on my Rider 400. Please see the picture.
Definitely update related as they appeared on startup after update.
I have tried a system re-set and the screen is still striped.
How do I do a 'clean' reinstall of the system software ?
What else do you suggest please ?

    Hi
    @RMRH
Have you tried a Soft/Drum roll restart on the device ??? This restarts the device's Operating System afresh

    RESETTING YOUR NAVIGATION DEVICE
    https://help.tomtom.com/hc/en-gb/articles/360013957499-Resetting-your-navigation-device
Charge the device for at least 2Hrs….
(Preferably using something like a Smartphone Charger using the Tomtom USB lead)
OR have the device plugged into a power supply while the device is restarting
Press and hold the on/off button until you hear a drum-roll sound then release the on/off button.
You won’t lose anything; it’s just like rebooting your PC
I use a Soft/drum-roll start after any upgrade large or small.
It’s also useful to keep in mind for sorting out most minor niggles...

Recovery mode... Usually rolls the NavKit/NavCore Back to the previous version....
Be Aware... I would not use Recovery Mode on just a whim... In my experience, anyone trying to activate Recovery Mode... Without a fully active connection Via a USB Cable & MyDrive Connect could have real problems....

Once Recovery Mode is initiated, and a connection to MDC is NOT established... Recovery Mode will continue to attempt to connect to MDC until the Server eventually times-out
Any attempts at a Restart... The device, will continue to display a Splash screen with Image of a PC and a Red Cross or a Screen displaying a Spinning disc, until Recovery mode can establish a connection to MyDrive Connect or the Server eventually times-out

Watch the Video in the link to the Tomtom FAQ.... Recovery Mode...
    Here...https://help.tomtom.com/hc/en-gb/articles/360013961099-Restoring-your-navigation-device
    ____________________________

Note.... The roll back will only last until the next Major Update like a NavKit/NavCore or Map update etc... This is because the NavKit Application and QuickFixGPS updates are Mandatory and force ticked by Tomtom, If you wish to install the update, you will have to update the NavKit before you can install any update like Maps etc....

some release notes would be appreciated.
    What hapenned ?
What bugs? What features? What is the timeline? What is the plan for the next release ?
    When is it expected ?

Why is such a company seemingly finding it so difficult to either communicate properly on that or perhaps develop properly and issue a proper set of release notes with new versions ?
Is it really so difficult to be organized ? Or is it perhaps purposefuly done ?

There are slightly more information on the following US site... still pretty empty and no information about what bug or what aspect of the performance was actually tweaked but at least you have a visibility on the versions:
    https://help.tomtom.com/hc/en-us/articles/360014400819-TomTom-Navigation-Device-Software-Release-Notes
If in EU, hit ESC fast otherwise you are re-directed to the EU site...

What I find also absolutly amazing is the 1h14 update duration (and no, that's not the download, that the upload to the device) ... either it is completely mis-calculated (which is a problem in itself) or ...
The device actually restarted 1x after 10min... then anounces 1h10 ...

I do not get it ...

Ok... now my device has updated, I click ok on the "Your information and privacy" ... and ... it ... does nothing...
ah.. 2 min later, it tries to display the map... it feels slower than before

Oh and this forum keeps on asking me how I find the support ... no I will not click on the checkbox to suppress it... is it in the hope I change my answer perhaps ?
