Are you using the built in HR or a chest strap or neither? Calories for Freestyle are based on HR so if you changed the HR method or if HR is lower it will give different calories. Look at those activities from a year ago and see how your HR compares.1

I’m using the built in heart monitor - and the readings are about the same - the readings for running seems to be correct0

The logic behind it may have changed or your personal stats might be different. Make sure the stats are right and that is all you can do. there is no way to change it, it is what it is.0
