error 10, and sim card does not seem t be able to connect to any network

it's not error 107, just error code 10... :'oeps there seems to be a problem with your connection'. digging deep into the settings, the network does not show any bars., and it tried and fails to find a connection. sim number never appears, IMEI number is displayed though.
does this mean the end of my live services? not inclined to pay for a service that won't work.
