Try a Soft Reset. With the unit charged up turn the unit on and when ready press and hold the ON/OFF button for about 20 seconds plus until you hear the drumroll sound then let the button go. The unit will restart with its files tidied up.
If that does not Solve the issue then a Factory Reset is the next option. Before doing this Log into your account on the My Drive Website and check that all your My Places etc are backed up there. If that is okay then:-
Tap Menu
Tap Settings
Tap System
Tap Reset Device.
This will return the device to Out of the Box except it will not change the Operating System and Map versions on the device. Once you have set the unit up again then your data should sync back onto the unit from your account.
Finally one other check you could do is Tap menu and see if your unit is being charged when it is in its holder and in the vehicle.

Hopefully @VikramK can look at the settings for your unit and change them if necessary on the TT servers. Look back here later.
Regarding going blank and you using the supplied charger and cable. Plugging the cable into a OSB socket will not supply sufficient power and the battery will go flat .This maybe why it is losing Traffic as well.

Are you using the supplied socket or a 3rd parties. Some of the 3rd parties are not working with the Tomtom units as you would expect.
Have you got another Electronic unit close by ie a Toll device for example.
