Welcome to the Community! Just to confirm, Is this a GO Navigation or Go Mobile App? I've not seen any reports for this so far but by any chance, you have the maps installed on the external memory card?
I have the same issue when i type anything and press go to start the search.
It takes several minutes before finding a result like Paris in 4G or wifi.
The application and map are installed on the system memory.
This problem started since the last update version 2.2.1 (3347) and just before the version 1.18.1 worked very well.
I saw another person on the app store which had the same problem with an S10 + and me i have a S10.
I uninstall and reinstall without cleaning because the files are deleted correctly in ODB and Data.
If I reinstall version 1.18.1, everything works.
It takes 15/20 seconds on my Iphone, SE (old version) using iOS 13.6 and App 2.2.1, to produce the significantly long list of search results when I input Paris.
Thank you for your answer,
I am happy to learn that work on an old version of iphone and that the developers Tomtom have their preferences between Android and Iphone.
Paris was a just one example,
The issue occurs with all searches, no matter the size of the list :
Random cities like Ploudaniel, Bassussary, Bidart but also
Eurodisney, Asterix, castle of Chenonceau, chateau de versailles, etc..
I just launched a timed search and I have 3 minutes 30s for Ploudaniel, Bidart 3mn06s and Asterix 3 minutes.
With the version 1.18.1, it's almost instantaneous.
Odd as all of those come up in circa 15 seconds on mine except if I input Chateau de Versailles which took 50 seconds. Regarding that it finds it quicker if you just type Versailles as it finds places called that then seeks POI's in this areas and that was back to the 15 seconds timescale. Both Chateau you mention are very nice having been to both whilst in France in our Motorhome (Camping Car).
Maybe tomorrow when @lampard hopefully will be on the forum he may have some ideas or will ask for more info so he can pass it on to the relevant team at TT.
Can you please make and attach a screenshot of the information page from Main Menu> Infomation (i icon) and paste that here as an attachment showing the app version?
Sorry about the delay! Just to confirm, Are you still having issues? What are the map regions installed on your App? Can you check & confirm if the search is slow when you disable/enable the online search from TomTom Services> Online Search?
Hi @lampard
I have all maps for France
- France Sud, Corse, Monaco
- France Sud-Ouest
- France Nord-Ouest
- France Nord-Est
- France Centre
This is the same if i enable or disable the online search.
I tested with the Google DNS, OpenDNS through 4G and Fiber internet.
Hi @lampard
My trial version will expire in seven days.
If I subscribe, I will not be able to use my subscription with the old version unless if I uninstall the 2.2.2 for the 1.18.1 version before because the subscription is not retroactive. And I will no longer be able to install the new version in the futur for testing without the automatically migrating of the subscription to the 2.2.2.
What do you advise us to do ?
A novelty since 2.2.2 that I only notice now, the duration of a search returns to normal if I disable wifi and 4g and not just one of the two. I thought I tested this with 2.2.1 but I'm not sure anymore.
This means that the online search option does not work because if i disable it with the wifi or 4G connected, the long search bug returns.
I tested 2.2.2 with another Samsung with Android 8 and it has no problem. So the bug would only happen with android 10.
Agreed - I have v2.2.3 running on a Google Pixel 3 with Android 10 (about as 'standard Android' as you can get) and the search function is so slow it's virtually unusable
