Using the new TomTom GO Navigation app on multiple devices

Up until today I was able to use the app on two devices with different Gmail accounts, by using restoring the purchase option.

Today I renewed my subscription for one year and it uses the Google subscription to manage that. So on my device where I renewed the subscription everything works fine. But on the other device (with the other Google account) it says that no subscription can be found, although I log on with the same credentials...

Is the subscription only linked to 1 device or 1 Google account?

It is linked to the TomTom account you login with in the App.

So you say it should be possible when I log in on another device with the same TomTom account? It worked in the 'old' app, but in the new app Google Subscriptions is being used.

As far as I know the subscription is tight to the login account you supply in the TomTom services settings page only, but I do not have the latest "new/crippled version" rolled out to me yet.

The subscription is now handled by Google so the subscription will be limited to the Google account you purchase it with.

Good to know this is changing too.
Does it allow the Family option too or solely the single account?
Either my wife or I use the Car and TomTom, on our own phones, with our own google account, which was working fine up till now (v 1.18.1) and this will not be possible anymore either in the new version?

With Google Play you have the possibility to add apps to your family group, which consists of several Google accounts. These apps can only be used by members of the family. Would be nice if that would be the case for TomTom as well.

As long as you have an active subscription on your TomTom or Google Account and are logged in it should work. The GO Navigation subscription is linked to your account and not your device.

See the note regarding the payment method mentioned on this page: https://support.google.com/families/answer/7007852?hl=en

@Jürgen , I am fully aware of how Google Play works, but my simple question is whether TomTom made the new app "eligible to be added to Family Library"?
I can't check as we both still get v1.18.1 in the playstore with the inapp purchase option using the tomtom account.

    Having exactly the same question:
Will this subscription be eligible for Familiy Sharing.

Also, I tried to add my Google account to my wife's phone, but it won't work this way. Though it sees the subscription in the play store, TomTom says there are no subscriptions.

Is it fair to assume when a question is ignored the answer is "NO" ?

    Hi,

    Thanks for your answer.

So basically, before the update I was able to share my subscription with my family. (my wife and my daughter).
But now, after the update I should buy a separate license for myself, for my wife and for my daughter.

Before, a license for my family cost EUR 20.
Now I should pay EUR 39 (12,99 * 3) so that my family can use TomTom.

I cancelled my subscription and installed Waze on my devices.

Actually Go Navigation doesn't work on multiple devices even with the same Google account in Google Play.
And on top of that, you don't know about it until after a week before the free trial expires, since there is no way to log in to the app, before that.
So it seems to be coded to lock to one or two devices, but as soon as a third one comes into the picture, it can't use the same credentials. That's a big problem.
And on top of that, the speed limits are very often wrong and can't be reported (as in the old app). TomTom is making itself obsolete by these added limitations and extremely old speed limit databases (talking 5+ years old changes that isn't updated).

My case is even worse.... I have an old android phone that I leave in the car (if I get stolen I don't lose much) ... and now I have an iPhone that I carry with me and I use on the motorbike. So I'm not sharing anything and both devices are mine.

Before this latest version I can use my TWO devices indistinctly ... now I CAN'T because the subscription was bought and renewed on Android. This really s***ks... As someone said before, I'm thinking that is better to cancel the subscription and go with Waze....

I don't know who came up with that from TomTom but I don't think it was a good idea for marketing and to boost sales ...

You use your more expensive device on your motorcycle - that's brave :-)) My motorcycle eats OIS for breakfast.

Anyway, the new TTGo app (2.x) is a joke - it looks pretty much like a completely ignorant start-up had taken over TT and is learning from scratch ... make that NOT learning from scratch :-) Pity, really, as the old app together with MyDrive and MyRoutes was one of the best there is for planning routes and then being lead along them by by all TT devices you have. I mainly use a 6-inch Via and have the app on my phone for backup. The ability to plan on my laptop in advance and then have everything synced on multiple devices with similar (very good) interface was great.
