Reported a closure, but it not appeared on the map

Sour_Lem0nSour_Lem0n Posts: 15 [Master Explorer]
Hello everyone,

in the area where I live there are actually 2 road closures, but they are not marked in the map.

Both of them started at 1. April - since then I reported both of them multiple times (few days passed between these reports)-every time they gets accepted (green badge), but any sign of closure did not appear in the map.

These reports I submitted:

Closure 1:
133c8100-0e4b-4300-a730-9a327729390e
318eccd6-690a-4fc5-a369-4b86771789d3
4f213fe1-160f-4081-b6c1-e69a7b1161ea

Closure 2:
e501532c-eda1-4a15-8a3d-4c72512433ca
e7865f05-d57e-4934-a60b-05c3d780bb2a
cc38b230-1321-49fd-b08e-0b949060c459

Can somebody at TomTom please look into it?

Thank you,

S.L.

I agree, all reported road closures with a source that can be checked should be enabled. If there is no source added, then let the quantity of GPS traces decide.

Generally speaking, I think the inconvenience to stand for a closed road which is not enabled in TomTom Traffic is much greater than the inconvenience caused to you by driving a little (and sometimes unnecessary) detour.

    @VikramK

Please also let the team look at 286dbf01-2843-403a-99dd-47b34f6f7df4 and 1646be8c-b36f-41c5-b690-b035bac31eb9. Official source is added in both reports.

Lately I get the feeling that reports of temporary closed roads are not accepted. Or at least: I don't see them appear on the map. But I have no idea why; almost always I post the official source so that the report can be verified to be correct.

    Hi @RGM71

The status on the above reports still shows in-progress. Let's give it some time and if nothing changes I will raise it internally.

    Thank you,
    Vikram

    Hi @VikramK

This afternoon they have been accepted but on the map no road closure is shown, and this is exactly what I mean.

Besides, in the past we were told that normally, reported (and accepted) road closures should be visible within one hour after reporting.

    Hi @RGM71

The team has investigated these reports and the potential closures reported.

Both sources and live stats/ recent GPS traces do not indicate that this road is closed. We will continue to monitor the situation. If there are any changes a closure will be implemented as reported.

    Regards
    Vikram

    Hi @VikramK

The source I added is the official source for all Dutch roadworks and road closures. And it clearly states that this road is closed from 21-04-2020 07:00 (CEST) until 24-04-2020 16:00 (CEST). So I don't understand how it can be concluded that the source doesn't indicate that the road is closed.

I noted in my own environment that when tertiary roads are closed (because they are closed by fences) TomTom often doesn't recognise this. Maybe because some GPS traces always will be visible because of the people who live there. Therefore I make those reports, which are almost always accepted. But even after that they aren't visible on the map, which is wrong.

    Hi @VikramK ,

    I have similar problem again:

    1) report cdac3cf8-0180-42ab-b225-3df0a8cc023b
long term road closure - report accepted yesterday morning, since has not appeared on the map

    2) report f1d8bc0a-3cdd-4fe6-a0ab-216909ed466a
again-accepted yesterday morning but not on the map since then

Please is any possibility to give these closure reports even on less important roads higher priority? It is very annoying to drive straight into closure and do some difficult maneuvers to turn back especially when driving bigger vehicles...

    • 8eafd155-da39-4426-ac74-287c03684a67

All reports have been accepted > 24hrs ago and have an official source attached, but the closures are not enabled.

To me, this makes reporting temporary road closures a waste of time.

To my previous reports (accepted road closures, but still not marked on the map), there are two new ones:

    9c49a019-7a38-4492-b81c-2d158f90ac4e

    Any chance to fix it?

    Thanks, K.C.
