I decided to update the European maps on my start 50, but there wasn't enough memory on the device or card. So i took the card out to format it, and now the device won't recognize the card and i can't update any maps as it says i don't have any at all. what am i doing wrong?

Hi @ian0112
Here is a link to a video to re the No Map Found situation.
Because you had no map on the internal memory and have formatted the Card the unit has no map on it which is required for the unit to boot up.
Hopefully on Monday either @VikramK or @lampard can allocate a small map to your account then you can go through the No Map sequence and load that small map which will go on the internal memory. Once you do that then you can format the Card in the unit for maps and then reload the European Map. Now the Map is as much as 9.6gb in size so you will need a Micro SD Class 10 card that is either 16gb or maximum 32gb to get the map on it. If you get a new card then I suggest a Sandisk, Samsung or similar major make as some of the obscure ones have been know to not work.

When you have sorted things out keep the small map on the unit as this will enable you to start the unit and sort things out if during a further update you lose the map for some reason.

Hi
Welcome to the site....
Some Maps are now to big to install onto the the on-board Memory....
Catch22....
On the early NAV4 devices you were allowed ONE Map with Lifetime updates pre-installed on the device... The early Maps fitted easily onto 8GB on-board Memory, but the Map sizes increases with every update... Now the 8GB limit on-board Memory size on the NAV4 devices is an unfortunate, but real Catch22 situation....

Important... On Monday if needed @VikramK or @lampard the Forum Moderators can allocate a small Map to your account to act as a 'Keeper'

Thanks for the help. Downloaded a smaller map onto the device, then found out a 16gb card out and formatted. now have a full euro map again and space to spare. Happy days!!1
