My battery died recently. Currently charging the device on the laptop, but from the Main Menu how can I see how charged the battery is? I can't work out how to get the status bar displayed unless I'm driving, and all online explanations refer me to the status bar. Thanks in advance.

Hi all
@Befits
Your Start60 works like my Start25.
On the screen there is a battery symbol in the lower left corner, green, orange, red depending on the level.
You only see it if the device is Not connected to any power supply.
- Connected to the PC, the symbol becomes a computer symbol.
- Connected to a power supply, car charger or mains charger, the symbol disappears.
The TomTom car charger is a 1.2A. To recharge your Start60 at home, you can use the main charger of a smartphone of 1 or 2A, at least 2 hours to have a full battery. It will be faster than the 500 mAh of your USB ports.

Hi
@Befits
Tap the 4Dot (.... Menu) button... On the Menu Screen top right is a battery status Icon
Charging... Displays when Connected to a Power supply
Full Charge... Displays when Connected or Not Connected Power supply
Half Charge... Displays when NOT Connected Power supply
Low Battery... Displays when NOT Connected Power supply
One of the worst things you can do to a Lithium battery is to run it flat so at a certain percentage of discharge (Unspecified)... The device will go into 'Power Saving Mode' the screen will dull, and the device will eventually turn itself off (Not Sleep)
There is a Battery Status display available on the devices Status Screen
Press and hold the on/off button until you hear a drum-roll sound Continue to hold the on/off button until the Black & White Status screen is shown.....
If you are worrying about the device charging, you might consider one of these gadgetsOr
Simply plug the device into the USB socket and plug your lead into the USB Doctor, the device will display the Voltage and Power being used by your various USB devices
I have one of each type they're only peanuts to buy, search Amazon/eBay for USB Doctor

Hi YamFazMan, Thanks for replying- and with so much information too. However, I don't get four dots on my Main Menu (can't see that it's possible to upload a photo here to show my Main Menu screen) And today, after about 30 seconds of working, it's immediately switching off even though I've got it plugged into my laptop so it seems that the battery has lost all power. I'll keep it plugged into the laptop to see if that somehow gets power back into it. It's been a terrific sat nav, so it'd be great to resurrect it! Thanks again for your reply. I'll come back to it if the battery does power up. fingers crossed!0

You probably got the old Start 60 (nav3)
The menu is different to the current devices, unfortunately I do not know where the battery symbol is located.1 -
Thanks, Doug, yes, and I'm trying it now. Much appreciated.
Also, Lochfrass, I expect I have. Can't remember how long ago I bought it but I don't tend to by new gadgets until the old ones wear out. At least you've helped me realise I wasn't going crazy by not being able to see a battery indicator! Thank you2 -
Hi
@Befits
On my NAV3 Via 120 Live....
From the main menu
Tap (Settings)
Left Cursor Twice for next page
The Setting Menu page opens
Tap (Battery status) Icon... Note.... Some of the lower specification NAV3 devices may not have a 'Battery status' Icon
Follow on screen prompts to exit
Or... There is a Battery Status display available on the NAV3 devices Status Screen
Press and hold the on/off button until you hear a drum-roll sound Continue to hold the on/off button until the Black & White Status screen is shown.....

Hi everyone, and a really big thank you for so much help. I've been charging on an iPhone plug for a while, and I unplugged it just now and found the battery symbol on the left. I'm now back to charging it as it's only about 25% charged. But I can't thank you all enough for all of the help and guidance given. Hugely appreciated. SUCCESS! x3
