My TomTom Rider 410 water ingress

Hi, on a ride to Scotland last summer,in a very heavy downpour my device let water in, it doesn't work at all now, won't turn on, completely dead, device purchased April 2017, I'm trying to get it repaired through Tom Tom but correspondence with them is very slow, they keep apologising for the delay, and asking for details, reciepts, serial number, address, phone number etc, beginning to feel like throwing it in the bin and buying a Garmin, does anybody know how long the warranty is? Or should I bite the bullet and buy a new one? Thanks
