I'm doing a triathlon and want to know if my Multisport will get damaged if I use it in Freestyle mode - and will it record the event successfully.

It won't get damaged but unless it is a short triathlon the battery may not last the whole time. The results will also be iffy as it will use optical HR so for swimming distance will be wrong (no open water swimming) and HR may be wrong (optical does not work under water). For the bike portion it may be okay although optical HR has issues with cycling as the weight bearing on your wrists cuts off circulation giving low readings and the constant bumping of the road can throw off the HR. For running you should be okay, as long as it does not lock onto your cadence rather than your HR.6

Thanks for the answer, all logical if I had stopped to think about it. Do appreciate the comment about the riding and blood flow to through the wrist - was wondering why it was erratic.
The triathlon shouldn't be too long, maximum 1.5 hours so will test the watch's capability.0
