SuperusersIt won't get damaged but unless it is a short triathlon the battery may not last the whole time. The results will also be iffy as it will use optical HR so for swimming distance will be wrong (no open water swimming) and HR may be wrong (optical does not work under water). For the bike portion it may be okay although optical HR has issues with cycling as the weight bearing on your wrists cuts off circulation giving low readings and the constant bumping of the road can throw off the HR. For running you should be okay, as long as it does not lock onto your cadence rather than your HR.6

The triathlon shouldn't be too long, maximum 1.5 hours so will test the watch's capability.
