Buy Argentina maps from Argentina?
I have a built-in Carminat Live on my Renault Koleos 2013. The first 2 letters of the serial ID is: IB (taken from TomTom Home app system information option)
From TomTom Home application I pushed the sd card into my computer, the application started and told me I got to download and install a new update, version 2.20. After that, nothing works. The checkout process when I select any map, not only the Argentinian one, just get me into an empty shopping cart. This is a shame of a nice application.

I went and sent an email to support, they contacted Renault and asked them to call me with no further excuses than "TomTom seems to be taking out support over the product" (what? not even 10 years and it´s already legacy?). Which didn´t seem like a truth anymore.
Read about a trick anyone can do to use the TomTom Home version 2.11, escaping the deadly "download new version" trap. Did it, worked and then pointed me to a payment process based on Ireland (really?)
Can you tell me that if I end up buying the USD 69.95 map (https://www.tomtom.com/en_us/drive/maps-services/shop/travel-map/south-america-caribbean-mexico/ which should be https://www.tomtom.com/es_ar/drive/maps-services/shop/travel-map/south-america-caribbean-mexico/) will work on my device?
After all this hacking and research, I feel like deserving a free map..

Hi @Kani
The map you are trying to order is only compatible with the Nav4 and above TomTom PND's running on firmware v18.xx.
If you just try to purchase the map of Argentina and Uruguay then you should be able to proceed with the order(Please check compatibility)

I will need to check which version of map I have. Although, the web and the tomtom home application shows me the 10.40 map as an update. Weird.

That's what I was thinking. The weird part is that it seems to be the map taken from the mapear project: http://www.proyectomapear.com.ar/, which it's an open source community based mapping of Argentina. And it states in it's site that none should charge to deliver of the project.
Can you check this internally?
On the other hand, since TomTom is deprecating those devices, is the company planning on publish its sources? So others, like me, with some effort can attempt to maintain maps updated (with Mapear in this case).
It requires various channels to derive map data so relying on a single source is not true. Apart from having different channels, our own teams have a major contribution in creating, filtering and collaborating this data into one map.
I am afraid, we cannot reveal our sources on an open public community for obvious reasons.

If any of those channels belongs to an open source, you need to honor their decision of use, you cannot discard it, that's against the law and you can be sue for this. Read the EULA here: http://www.proyectomapear.com.ar/content/licencia-de-uso (sorry, it's in spanish, but you sure can translate it).
Those obvious reasons seems to point to forget about the customer interest and focus on the company ones. The built in gps system of my car is a total dead useless brick with no map updates (a car made in 2013, less than 8 years old). Really a bad decision for a company that says is customer centric.
What would be the problem to reveal the internals of the devices you are deprecating with no further support? The only one I can think of is letting someone else supports something from it that you just decided you are not interested in supporting yourself.
There are Big examples in the industry, like Microsoft with their unsupported operating systems.
