I have a VIA 1535 with 4K memory. I have replaced this with a newer TomTom but I want to use it mainly for cycling. I no longer have the micro SD card so I want to put a smaller map on it (USA only). Can I do this without purchasing a new map since this unit has lifetime updates?

Why not just buy another sd card of 16 or 32 gb in size to handle the larger map?
You can call support and see whether they will indeed change your subscription to lifetime for US maps only:

Just a follow-up for the community. Smaller maps are available for free if you have lifetime maps. When you click "install" on the large map you will be given options to install smaller regional maps that will fit the device.1
