TT is selling the GO BASIC for about 150 details here:- https://www.tomtom.com/en_gb/sat-nav/car-sat-nav/products/go-basic-5-inch/
but you will need to buy an Oz map for 45 from here https://www.tomtom.com/en_gb/sat-nav/maps-services/shop/travel-map/australia/2 -

SuperuserHi @MikeLimmer
You could download Equador, Iraq as well as Australia etc if you wanted.
They are included in the cost of the unit as well as Lifetime Traffic and Cameras for Europe. The Australia map is only about 1gb so it should fit on the internal memory of the unit without a problem. It would also be a good idea to leave that map on it after you have used it as should you have a problem updating the Europe map and lose it as a result the OZ map being there enables the device to work normally and you and then reinstall the lost map.
In the event that when you set the device up and you go to Settings/Maps and seek to Add a map if the OZ map is not shown as available under Oceania then you contact Customer Support to get the account sorted out.

Amazon are currently offering the GO520 which has World maps on it for about. £125. You could get that, which will have the Europe map on it, and then downoad the Australia map which is included in the cost. The Device requires connection to a smart phone for Traffic etc here but will not provide traffic in Australia as that facility is only provided for the region in which a Tomtom unit is purchased.
If they would like Cameras data Tomtom are now offering a cameras option where you can have the Cameras data for the map being used from the World range and pay by a subscription when required.
Alternatively if they have a smart phone then maybe the Tomtom app is a possibility. With the Apple Tomtom navigator App you can download maps as required and that includes a map of Australia. Once on the phone then maybe a universal phone holder they can use to support the phone when required.
