SuperuserHi @rcpilot
I am afraid that you cannot create or manage POI files on the GO Camper or indeed any of the TT devices released in the last few years.
Regarding the POI file from your old unit you could still, if it is available, manage the POI file on the old unit and copy/replace the updated file onto the new device. Alternatively edit the file which you now have on your PC in software such as POI Editor and then replace the one on the GO Camper via My Drive.
One Phone App you may find useful is the Mapcode App. This works with a Sat map like Google Earth and gives you an Address, a Mapcode and the Long/Lat for any position in the world. Mapcodes only work on the Tomtom devices. For example if you are in the UK and were to open Search on the GO Camper and type DH.FX where you would type an address or Postcode etc and accepted the search result you would be directed to the middle gate at the front of Buckingham Palace. Mapcodes are accurate enough to pick out a Parking Space in a Car Park. I find it helpful in rural areas where you can search the map to more accurately define where you want to get to when a Postcode could be as much as 1/2 a mile away.

SuperuserHi @rcpilot
This may help you merge POI file data.
https://tomtom.gps-data-team.com/poi/join-ov2.php
You cannot add your own bitmap image to your device as you could on the old devices. When you add your own POI files to the device if you then go to Show Poi files on the map in Settings/Appearance and elect to show the POI file you are given a choice of 5 generic icons that will show on the map.
The best thing is to give similar Poi file types the same generic Icon and when you see the icon on the map and Tap it then you will see some information such as Sainsburys or Tesco saying what the Icon relates too.

SuperuserHi @rcpilot
Yes My places is the old Favourites.
You can delete the individual My Places (favourites) on your TT unit by Tapping Edit and then you can select the ones you want to delete. You cannot delete the POI files that are listed at the bottom of the My Places list that way.
To delete the POI files from your device go to the My Drive Website and log into your account ant delete them from the POI list there. Once deleted rorm your account when the device syncs to the account it will then delete that POI file just as it adds POI files you import into your account via My Drive.

Regarding the Splash screen you see when you attach you device to a PC. This is the only screen you will get when you connect your GO Camper.
The GO Camper is designed to be able to be updated etc via Wifi and avoids the need for a PC. However there are people who do not have Wifi in their homes , possibly for medical reasons, or their Wifi is not as fast as Tomtom recommend for their units. In this case you add My Drive Connect to a PC and then connect the GO Camper to the PC whilst the software is running and thus have now provided a connection from the GO Camper to the Internet. When the splash screen appears what you then do is go to the menu screen on your GO Camper and manage what you want to do from there ie do exactly what you would do when connected directly to the Wifi.
Regarding the My Drive website and your TT account that is where you can add the POI and Route files and is your backup of the data. Also when you add a favourite to the GO Camper, not in your POI file, in My Places this should appear on your account in My Drive and vice versa. If at any time, even when away from home and not attached to Wifi, you can do a full Factory Reset on your device which will wipe all your Favourites, Poi and Route files off the device. When it is set up and logs back into your account the GO Camper will restore the favourites, Poi and Route files using the inbuilt Mobile Sim or via Wifi if you are connected too it.

In addition to the above you can add new favourites to the My Places folder on your Go Camper using the My Drive App on a phone or tablet as we'll as the PC. If you open the my Drive App on the phone for instance and search etc or locate a place on the map you can then ask fo fit to be added to My Places. Then when your GO Camper syncs to your account it will be updated to include the new My place or with a My Place deleted if you decide you did not want it saved any longer.

How do I show the poi's that I have downloaded onto the Go Camper "along the route" I have tried so many ways and cannot do it, if you cannot then this device isn't a patch on the older via 135 what happened to the old directive K.I.S.S. this go camper is so hard to get it to do what you want it to do and sometimes even then you cannot do it because the software boffins at tomtom do not understand or work to KISS

Firstly I would ask which Search method you have set up on the Go Camper.
If when you Tap Menu the first Icon you get says Search then you have the Quick Search setting and I would recommend you leave it as it is.
If you Tap Menu and the first icon says Go To then you have the Step by Step Search setting and I would recommend you change it to Quick Search.
Tap Menu
Tap Settings
Tap System
Tap Choose Search Method
Tap Step by Step and Select Quick Search.
The Icons on page 60 are those you get when doing a search to help you identify what type of POI each one is when listed when searching.
You can search for Poi’s along a Route provided you have created the route first.
Tap Menu
Tap search
Tap Whole Map ( top right of screen)
Tap Along Route. (There are other options here you can choose)
Type the POI you want and this can include the name of a 3rd Party POI file you have added. Ie if You Type Camping
You will now get Two Columns. The left is s list of Places starting Camping the Right hand Column is a list of Camping Places listed in order of distance from your current position. You may well see some in the list with the Special icons that are shon omn the Map form the 5 Specific camper na d camping related POI files that come with the GO Camper. Poi’s based on distance from your current position.
If you Tap the Blue Keyboard (bottom Right) the keyboard will disappear and you can now scroll down the right-hand or lefthand lists of Search Results.
When you type Camping then in the Righthand results Column you will see the 5 Special POI file Icons that relate to the camping related POI files that come with the GO Camper. If you Tap one of these Icons you will then have a list of POI positions from that Poi File.
If you Tap the Right Hand side of the other Ion Bottom Right (ie the 2 little Balloons)) you can now see the Results of the search , both Right and Left hand Columns) on the map. The quality of the display is affected by the amount you scroll the map Out or In.
If you Tap a particular result, left or right Column, it will take you to the map with the selected Poi’s position shown. You can scroll out or in on the map. If there is not already a menu with Drive on right end showing alongside the Icon then Tap the POI marker to get the menu. Do not Tap Drive as this will delete your current route and create a route to the selected POI. Tap the 3 Vertical Dots next to Drive and you get a Sub Menu where you can choose to add the POI to your Current Route. One of the options in the Sub menu is More information which will tell you more information on what the POI is if the information is available.
Hope this helps.

You cannot set the GO Camper, or any of the TT units that have been released in the last few years, to make a noise or voice warning when you are within a distance of a specific POI position.

I also have a Garmin Camper and the Traffic info is not as good and the Routing is not as good in my view.
It directs me into Church Place (a deadend) going to the main campsite in Moffat. Until the latest Software update it directed me passed a turning to where we live and instructed me to take the next turning in 20 yards into a single track road in front of a row of shops then exits the road and directed me back to the turning it told me to ignore and then routes me home. Having corrected the error with the last update it now does not take me passed the Shops but routes me along the normal roads but takes a 2 mile longer route than necessary. This error has been occurring for the last 2 years or so before they have corrected it. It has also been directing me on a 23 mile route instead of a 9 mile route near where we live and it has occasionally directed me home from the Dartford tunnel along a route which means I need a stiff drink when I arrive, The poor routing near where we live does not instil confidence when away from home.
