Tomtom go essential - no live traffic service?

I bought the tomtom go essential with the info of having lifetime traffic service via mobile phone connection. This worked in the beginning fine but now after some 3 months i receive no more traffic info and the instrument states that traffic service is not subscribed. This device is of no use to me without traffic service - how can I get this back working? Thank you
