TomTom Go 520 Supreme not reading Facebook Messenger messages aloud

I recently bought a Samsung Galaxy S8, and my TomTom Go 520 Supreme alerts me when a message arrives and asks if I'd like to hear it. When I press "Read aloud", all I get is "One message received".
It reads messages from the Messages app, but not from Messenger.
Is anyone else having this problem?

    a reset on the device followed by the repairing process using mydrive app on the phone can be tried.

    Thanks, I'll try that. Once I work out how. :-)
    I have previously tried un-pairing and re-pairing, but will try the reset (feeling rather sad as all my favourite destinations disappear).

    Before you do a factory reset please do a back up of your saved places and routes using MyDrive Web
