SuperuserHi @Ian5160
Try the following
1 Soft Reset ie Turn the unit on then when working Hold the ON/OFF button down for about 20 seconds + until you hear the drumroll sound then let the button go. The device will restart. Now check for connection
If that does not work try.
2 Factory Reset. This will delete all your Data and return it to the Out the Box situation except any Operating software or Map updates already done will not be affected.
Tap Menu
Tap Settings
Tap System
Tap Reset Device.
Now check again.
The best way to check for connection to the Sats is as follows.
Charge the unit fully or attach it to a charging source then do the following.
Take the unit outside well away from trees and buildings etc with a clear view of the sky all around. Turn on and when working do a soft reset then when ready create a route on the device and when you would normally be ready to move off with it lay the unit down and leave it still for up to 30 minutes plus whilst it tries to locate the sats. It has been found that the connection is made quicker by placing the device on a car roof. Always keep it in sight
If after all this it is still not connecting the contact Customer Support

Please accept my apologies, I didn't mean to be rude. I bought this as a 60th birthday present for myself, had it wired in before Christmas and this is the first sunny dry day to go out for a spin and the thing refused to work which is very depressing. I have just done what Doug suggested re the rest and the location symbol now shows blue so hopefully it will work when I try for another ride tomorrow. Thanks for answering my query .
Regards
Ian

Pleased to hear you may be sorted. The soft reset is a useful thing to do after you do any updates and also do all updates you do one item at a time.
