I am currently using my UK GO 6200in Australia. Any idea why the compass always points SOUTH?

Hi
@Sussexpete
Have you have tapped the Direction of Travel Icon thinking you have switched to the 2D Driving View... If the Direction of Travel Icon is flat & squat, your using the North-up overview planning Map
Simply tap on the direction of travel Icon to toggle between the default 3D driving view and the North-up overview Map
The default 3D driving view direction of travel Icon is more pointed
Have you by any chance turned off automatic Map switchng in the Settings menus ???... because unless you are manually Tapping the direction of travel Icon the device should automaticity change to the default Driving view when the vehicle reaches approximately 10Kph (6Mph)
Default Driving view is 3D
Note... In the setting menu the default driving view can be changed to either 3D or 2D in direction of travel
Tap 4Dot (.... Menu) --> Setting --> Appearance --> Guidance View....
I always Drive... 2D (In direction of travel)

Hi YFM, no my settings are the same as yours. It worked OK in UK. Must be to do with crossing the Equator? Thanks for the reply though.0
