How to get a GPRS connection ?

Dear All
I cannot get a GPRS connection on my GO6000 despite resetting it. This has been the case for a few days. In Settings it shows as GPRS stars disconnected (23415, 0, 2, 7, 0, 0).
Is this a result of an old tired much-used device that needs to be replaced or something more simple ?
