Obviously you wouldnt mount a tomtom directly in front of the driver but beyond that what is consdiered the best/safest area of the windshield for mounting?

Hi
@MJKincaid
Mine are Dashboard mounted...
If you Google "Safest area on a windscreen for mounting a Sat Nav" there are many suggestions.....

If you accept that there is no such thing as a "Safe Place", then it comes down to a choice/compromise on a number of issues:-
- As you have implied, it needs to be in a position that it does NOT obscure your Driving Vision (under any circumstances).
- However, IMHO, it also needs to be in a position that is NOT far away from your line of sight (you really don't want to have to take your eyes off the road to look at it).
- Most Users seem to mount it in the middle of the Windscreen (usually towards the bottom of the screen, although I have noticed that some mount them high up).
- Again, IMHO, the problem about mounting them low-down & centrally is that (with the significant slope of the Windscreen) it is physically quite some distance away (hence making it harder to operate).
- If you drive a Right-Hand Drive Car (as an example, Cars in the UK), then you are trying to operate it with your Left-Hand - not ideal for most people.
Because of all that (& I drive a right-hand drive Car in the UK), I personally have mounted mine on the extreme R/H side of the screen (assuming that the sucker-mount will fix, owing to the increase curvature) - it is out of my immediate Line of Sight, (but, easily seen without taking "eyes of road"), plus it is easy to operate with my R/H!

Thank you John-Jay for the insight. I'm currently concluding that I will house/mount the TT on the dash. The car is a BMW335 and the windshield has a lot of slope pretty much putting the TT out of reach if mounted low.0
