Have recently purchased the Tom Tom Start 52 but have experienced difficulty with accuracy
For instance, the caravan site we are currently staying on was found alright with my family's sat nav but ours took us to a destination some mile or so away. Can I address this problem or do I just take it back to the retailer and swap for a reliable make?

SuperuserHi @Hadley
The Start 52, and its similar sized Start models, have a problem with Postcodes because the only search facility has is Step by Step. This requires, after you have input the Postcode, that you then input the name of the road which in Rural areas particularly can be a problem. The other Tomtom models have 2 search methods so that you can select either Search by Step by Step or what is called Quick search. The latter does not have the problem as it will take you to the postcode centre or if you add the house number after the postcode will take you to the house.

SuperusersHi
@Hadley
Postcode + Street Name... Start 42/52/62
This is a long standing problem....
The Postcode code search bug when using the latest Start 42/52/62 devices is a real pain
Any search for a Postcode... You have to enter a road/street name to execute a search ??? Why....
If you know the road/street name and a house number you don't need the Postcode
Most people use a Postcode because they don't know the road/street name and house number
Isolated farms, Single building, Office blocks, Retail parks, Hospitals, New builds etc...
For me it renders the latest Start device useless in the UK
It's only the latest Start 42/52/62 Range that has this particular Step by Step search method
All of the previous NAV4 Models and the remaining Models in the NAV5 Range... The Via and GO Range have both the "Quick search" and "Step by Step search" as menu options
Tap 4Dot (.... Menu) --> Settings --> System --> Choose a search mode
Option... (1).... Quick Search (Default)
Option... (2)... Step by Step
