Rider 550 BT only when mydrive app is open?

So, I replaced my rider 400 with a rider 550.

I hve trouble getting the Mydrive service to work. IT works when I connect it to the wifi network at home are via wifi hotspot on the phone. However, it does not work via Bluetooth tethering. This is weird, because the traffic service is connected. Any idea, the mydrive app is running on the phone....

How is it thing got worse from the 400 to the 550?

    The Rider 550 uses BT Low energy to connect with the Phone.
    To use this you need the MyDrive App active on your phone.
    Only this way you can use Siri/Google now.
    You can check the connectivity with the Rider and TomTom services in the MyDrve App. (Right top of the screen)
    Not all phones work stable with BT Low energy yet.
    Resetting the hidden cache on the phone and rebooting the phone is sometimes necessary to get it working.

    If you don’t want to use this new way to connect it is still possible to connect with your phone with BT tethering as you did on with the Rider 400.
    To set this up remove the BT connection both on you phone an Rider am pair like you used to with the Rider 400 an don’t use the QR code and MyDrive.
